What is the bend deduction in a reinforcement steel?

When we bend a reinforced bar at some angles (degrees), due to elongation in steel, length of steel will increase to some amount. Before we place the bars in structural elements, we have cut steel bar, for which we have to calculate the exact length of bar (cutting length). In order to calculate the cutting length we have to deduct elongated length of bar due to bend.

It’s mostly depends upon at what degree we are bending a bar.

Bend deduction:-

When we bent a bar at 90 degrees we have to deduct 2 time diameter bar.

45 degrees——-> 1 Dia of bar

90 degrees ——-> 2 Dia of bar

135 degrees ——-> 3 Dia of bar
